We have been designing and making the finest environmentally responsible public furniture for the last 15 years. We take great pride in the design and manufacture all of our work.
Our benches are hand made in our Shropshire workshop by craftsmen using traditional methods. Our garden benches are supplied fully assembled, after installation they need no more maintenance.
We do not import flat pack furniture from the far east. We offer a complete design and build service; we will happily design bespoke furniture in either a traditional or contemporary style.
We are able to supply any number of benches for commercial or private clients.
All of our timber is locally sourced prime English green oak, sawn on the same site, ensuring a minimal carbon footprint.
Our hand carving lettering is carried out by a master woodcarver using traditional chisels, we are able to carve any style of font or you can let us decide which style of carving would work best for your bench.
We are also able to relief carve images of animals, flowers, coats of arms etc…
We can arrange for delivery anywhere in the UK, usually by a secure courier
If you have any queries about our furniture products or how we operate, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us.
When we first established our business we took the environmental decision to only use locally sourced native hardwoods, never tropical woods imported from the Far East.
With this in mind our memorial benches are made using only locally sourced English Green Oak. All of our hardwood comes from well-managed woodlands and is sawn by our local mill, thus ensuring a minimal carbon footprint.
Green oak is the vernacular building material of England, renowned for it’s great strength and durability. It has been used for centuries to make everything from The Globe Theatre to timber framed houses and churches, many of which can still be seen today after hundreds of years.
Green Oak is unseasoned oak, which means that it has high moisture content. A green oak bench will slowly air dry on average an inch per thickness per year depending on ambient conditions.
As the bench seasons, each piece takes on it’s own individual character. Small cracks and splits may develop, however, they will stabilise over time and will not affect the durability or aesthetic integrity of the work.
As green oak is naturally strong and very resistant to decay it needs no chemical treatments or preservatives making it maintenance free.
Therefore it is the natural choice for eco friendly outdoor furniture, where it will naturally season and age gracefully to a beautiful silver colour.
